from The story of the pencil.....
"That depends on how you look at things. It has five qualities which, if you manage to hang on to them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world.
First Quality: You are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.
Second Quality: now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpner. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he's much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and surrrows, because they will make you a better person.
Third Quality: the pencil always allows us to use the eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing, it helps to keep us on the road to justice.
Fourth Quality: what really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.
The monk who sold his ferrari
I got this book from a friend, and has been reading with a thril and a feeling that can't be explained in words. A book talking about finding the destiny by being a miracle exactly defining our motto.
Few things to note before start reading the book
+ Book talks about many things what 7 habits of Highly effective people (by Stphen R Cover) talks about and sometimes directly the same words.
+ India and its culture is apraised.
+ Moral stories are not that appropriate, you will definitely feel that if you are fan of Paulo Coelho.
However I''m impressed by the book and the following are some excerpts from the book.
The thousandth man
Will stick more close than a brother.
And it's worth while seeking him half your days
If you find him before the other.
The devil and miss Prym
Even though Ahab had begun to sharpen his knife the moment the saint set foot in his house, safe in the knowledge that the world was reflection of himself, he was determined to challenge the saint and so he asked him.
"If, tonight, the most beautiful prostitute in the village came in here, would you be able to see her as neither beautiful nor seductive?"
"No, but I would be able to control myself", the saint replied.
Alchemist
A certain shopkeeper sent his son to learn about the secret of happiness from the wisest man in the world. The lad wandered through the desert for forty days, and finally came upon a beautiful castle, high atop a mountain. It was there that the wise man lived.
"Rather than finding a saintly man, though, our hero, on entering the main room of the castle, saw a hive of activity: tradesmen came and went, people were conversing in the corners, a small orchestra was playing soft music, and there was a table covered with platters of the most delicious food in that part of the world. The wise man conversed with everyone, and the boy had to wait for two hours before it was his turn to be given the man''s attention.
The wise man listened attentively to the boy's explanation of why he had come, but told him that he didn't have time just then to explain the secret of happiness. He suggested that the boy look around the palace and return in two hours.
Who moved my cheese
How many times we felt really bad, exhausted and defeated when we lose something we enjoy over a period of time as granted - Girl / Boy friend dumping other, getting fired from the jobs and it could be as simple as missing the bus we are used to catch daily.
I happened to read bout a popular story and had a chance to immerse me in it. As simple as it is, it conveys a sophisticated theme and exceptional solution to the problem everyone has in his/her life.
As the story is available with a review, explanation, story and discussion I cut this short by telling where you can get a copy of it.
http://www.esnips.com do search for “Who moved my cheese” there.
